Utilities Coming In!
We are chugging along over here and getting a few steps closer to camper livin' for a season.

It took quite some time to get the electricity out here, a little longer than expected, but everything else seems to be running quite smoothly.

They set 4 poles total, 3 on our property and they look great! Like something important is coming to this part of the land.
We hired a fella named Danny and he trenched our water line and our wiring from the last pole back up the driveway to the well-house. We contemplated having the electric company drop power at the top of the road to cut costs on copper wiring, but decided this was the best option, instead of having 2 meters and 2 power bills.

Cooper smoothed out rock and built the foundational framing for the well-house. We will discuss the well-house build further in another blog post. Danny even pulled the wiring and the plumbing up into the well-house for easy access upon building! Something we never asked him to do, but he’s so awesome he did it for us at no extra charge. We are grateful for his help!
This is where our temporary power is. Our land is about as rocky as it comes. Nearly impenetrable, but not impossible. Cooper said it took him a half hour to dig nearly 2 foot to set this large cedar post. If that isn’t attractive, I don’t know what is.
We were gifted this beautiful bell!! But we need to figure out a way to preserve it, if you have an idea please let us know! We would hate for it to rust out and never get used again being out in the elements unprotected.
It was made in 1840 in Louisville, Kentucky and I just can’t help but think about how this bell was most likely carted in by horse and wagon. Oh, the many years this bell has seen! Charming, isn’t it?
Y’all we couldn’t be more grateful as to what is coming. We just feel it in our bones that we are making the right call. A step towards a dream.
This week’s agenda looks like getting the well-pump installed, gravel laid and spread for the camper living area, move the camper to a more ideal location, research more tick control, get the house in order to put on the market!
Glad you’re here to tag along! Until next time.
