It’s fairly easy to romanticize a simpler life.
But to be honest, the adjustment period is not as easy as we were hoping for.
I brought too many things to our camper thinking “oh we will *need* this.” Oye. I have been proven wrong within a short 7 days. But we are getting it figured out. I mean we did just uproot our entire life & our whole schedule has been shaken up and revealing in the most unpleasant ways.
I’m forever grateful for a merciful and forgiving God.
Our first night we were met with a surprising 70 mph winds while we were all sleeping.
Truthfully - terrifying.
Cooper and I ran outside to buckle all of our things down and watch the storm blow in. Thankfully, once the heavens broke open and the rain poured down on us, the wind seized, and all was well. Thank you, Father!
Next on the list: storm shelter.

We broke ground this week! Very exciting as I was under the impression this would be a couple weeks out.

The perimeter of our home being laid really put a lot into perspective. Bringing our computer drawing to life!
This week, Cooper, will be mapping out our plumbing. This is no easy task & I am so grateful he is undertaking it! He will have to buy a laser to accomplish this goal, however this will be $1,000s cheaper than hiring a plumber to come out.
As for now, I am perfectly fine washing all my dishes to this view - especially knowing this will be the direction my kitchen sink and windows will be facing.
And if you haven’t showered outside in a while, let alone ever, it is a must add to your list of things to do! It is so peaceful and invigorating & all of us are really enjoying it!
Little Josephine’s & I’s goal right now is to stay as cool as possible during the day. Friday it was 111 degrees at the camper and days before that were just under 110 degrees.
We love escaping to the natural springs and creeks throughout the area as much as possible.
Blowing Springs is brilliant! The cave in the photo above drops the surrounding air down to more comfortable temperature levels and we are able to spend several hours wading through the waters. Hunting little fish & crawdads, splashing and being mesmerized by the creation of it all!
Those are our updates so far!
See ya next time, folks.
Wow, the fun has begun :) I am so excited for all of you, can' wait to see the finished art work of Mr. Cooper Simpson and friends. Tell my little sweetie that Aunt Kelly says hello. I love seeing the progress pictures, keep them coming. I love you guys!!!!
So lovely, my friend. And for the record, showering outside IS the best! 👍
