I’ve been enjoying whipped egg yolk coffee for a couple years now, it was dubbed from a gal I follow on instagram named “noellekovary” which she calls the “yolky coffee”. It’s a whipped egg yolk and sugar, warmed & frothed raw milk and coffee.
Truly spectacular.
However, I’ve taken this basic concoction and mix it up every now and then with several different flavor profiles to match the season or the mood I’m feelin’!
Right now, I’m very into a hot cacao coffee. It’s still summer time where I’m at, but my heart is desiring regular chocolate indulgences it seems.
Basic Yolky Coffee
One egg yolk
1-2 tbsp of organic cane sugar
1 cup warmed/frothed raw milk
1-2 shots espresso
Preparation
In your mug, whip the egg yolk & sugar together into a custard like consistency.
Warm your raw milk (and froth if available)
Add coffee to your eggy mixture and whip together to meld together evenly.
Top with warmed milk & foam.
Hot Cacao Yolky Coffee
One egg yolk
1-2 tbsp organic cane sugar
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon
Splash of vanilla
1 tbsp cacao powder
1 cup warmed/frothed raw milk
1-2 shots espresso
Preparation
In your mug, whip the egg yolk & sugar together into a custard like consistency.
Add your salt, cinnamon, vanilla & cacao to your mug and whip with the yolky mixture.
Add your hot coffee and whip again to allow the mixture to meld together.
Add your warmed milk and foam.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top for added pleasure!
This recipe has been a great way to add more protein to my diet! So necessary, especially now growing a lil tot in my belly.
Please adjust as needed. Sometimes I don’t add the coffee to these drinks to avoid extra caffeine. I’ll be sharing more fanciful hot drinks as we get into the cooler months, but for now..
